The Böhler N679 / BECUT or 1.4153.03 (AISI Niolox) is a niobium-alloyed stainless blade steel for fine edges.

C: 0,79% | Si: 0,4% | Mn: 0,4% | Cr: 13% | Mo: 1,35% | Nb: 0,75% | V: 0,87%

Our "Niolox / BECUT or Böhler N679 steel" heat treatment recommendation:
Hardening:

  • Oxidation protection required
  • Hardening temperature: 1040°C - 1080°C
  • Quenching medium: air / alternatively oil
  • Cryo treatment: optional, but beneficial
  • Tempering: 180°C - 205°C
  • Achievable hardness: 59 - 61 HRC

Annealing: Hold for 2 hours at 840°C - 860°C, then slow cooling

Laser cut, rolled & annealed
Austrian or German production

Edges may be sharp – risk of cuts! Always wear appropriate protective equipment when working: gloves, safety glasses, and a dust mask. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion. Not suitable for children – not a toy!
