1.2067 / 52100 or 102Cr6 / AISI L3 steel, also known as bearing steel, is a tool cold work steel/carbon steel.

Properties

• Suitable steel for forging damascus (forge welding).
  Etches grey in damascus
• Very high sharpness
• Good edge retention / wear resistance
• Fine-grained

• European chef’s knives
• Hunting knives
• Outdoor, survival & bushcraft knives

Chemical composition

• C: 1,03%
• Cr: 1,55%
• Mn: 0,30%
• Si: 0,26%

Heat treatment: 1.2067 hardening:

• Hardening: 820 - 870°C (oil)
• Tempering: 2 hours at 180°C
• Annealing: 720 to 750°C
• Stress relieving: 600 - 650°C
• Hardness: ~60 HRC
