Properties

Suitable steel for forging damascus (forge welding).
Etches bright in damascus patterns
Very high sharpness
High toughness
Good flexibility & polishability
Also suitable as sword steel

Our "1.5634 / 75Ni8 or 15N20" heat treatment recommendation:
Hardening:

Hardening temperature: 800°C - 830°C
Quenching medium: oil
Cryo treatment: optional, minor benefit possible
Tempering: 160°C - 200°C
Achievable hardness: 59 - 61 HRC
