75Ni8 / 1.5634, also known as AISI 15N20 steel, is a carbon-nickel steel/carbon steel.

Properties

• Suitable steel for forging damascus (forge welding).
  Etches bright in damascus patterns
• Very high sharpness
• High toughness
• Good flexibility & polishability
• Also suitable as sword steel

• European chef’s knives
• Hunting knives
• Outdoor, survival & bushcraft knives

Chemical composition

• C: 0,75%
• Mn: 0,35%
• Ni: 2,00%

Heat treatment: 75Ni8 / 1.5634 hardening:

• Hardening: 820°C (oil)
• Tempering: 2 hours at 180°C
• Hardness: ~60 HRC
