Feather damascus is rarely found, as it is complex to produce, especially the stainless variant.

Stainless feather damascus (Feather Damascus) by Zladinox.
Producing feather damascus is relatively complex, as the damascus billet must be cut in the middle and then forge-welded back together. The typical feather pattern is created by this separation.

Heat treatment / ZDI INOX hardening

Hardening: 1070°C (air)
Tempering: 2 hours at 200°C
Hardness: ~59 HRC

Etching recommendation

Mirror polish before etching
Etch for 3-5 minutes in 33% hydrochloric acid (acid should be approx. 60-70°C)
Lightly polish again with fine polishing paste (e.g. Dialux Blue)
