With 14C28N steel, Sandvik has developed a steel that is primarily used for kitchen knives, offering fine edges combined with higher hardness.

 

The Swedish Alleima blade steel 14C28N (sandvik) is a stainless martensitic chromium steel.

Our "14C28N steel" heat treatment recommendation:
Hardening:

  • Oxidation protection required
  • Hardening temperature: 1050°C - 1080°C
  • Quenching medium: air / alternatively oil
  • Cryogenic treatment: -28°C or colder
  • Tempering: 160°C - 200°C
  • Achievable hardness: 59 - 62 HRC
