| We are very fond of using RWL 34 for our knives, as in our opinion it combines edge retention and toughness in an outstanding way. In addition, it is very easy to work with, making it one of the most versatile PM steels. |
RWL 34 is a stainless martensitic powder metallurgy steel from Damasteel®.

Practical assessment of RWL34
At a hardness of around 60 HRC, RWL34 is suitable for most types of knives. What is special about this steel is that its property profile can be very well adapted to blade geometry and intended use through heat treatment. When used correctly, it can deliver very high performance. Like many other high-alloy steels, RWL34 tends to form retained austenite if the heat treatment is not properly controlled.
