The stainless Damacore DC18N™ from Damasteel is a damascus steel with a unique appearance. The core layer consists of N11X™, a nitrogen-alloyed steel that combines high corrosion resistance with edge retention and strength. The outer layers are made of RWL34™ and PMC27™, both of which are martensitic stainless steels with a chromium content of at least 13%.
This damascus steel should have at least 0,8mm at the edge before hardening.
Properties
Heat treatment / Hardening Damacore
Caution! Stainless core steel: Do not use "plate quenching", no cryogenics with dry ice or liquid nitrogen. This often causes the core layer to be torn from the outer layers (no delamination). If deep freezing, only use gentle methods such as a freezer, but there is still a slightly increased risk.
