Gingami 3 (GIN3) - Silver Paper Steel

Gingami 3 or Silver Paper Steel is a stainless martensitic steel from Hitachi, Japan.
GIN3 steel was developed to produce stainless blades with sharpness and hardness comparable to carbon steel knives.

Chemical composition

• C: 0,95 - 1,10%
• Si: 0,35%
• Mn: 0,60 - 1,0%
• Cr: 13,0 - 14,50%

Heat treatment: GINGAMI 3 (GIN3) hardening:

• Hardening temperature: 1070°C (air/oil)
• Tempering: 2 hours at 180°C
• Hardness: ~60 HRC
