Alleima Damax - legend damascus

Damax is a stainless damascus with 135 layers, parallel layers (layered damascus).

Properties

• Good corrosion resistance
• Fine microstructure
• Easy to sharpen
• Good workability
• Can be patterned by cold or hot forming

Composed of Alleima 7C27Mo2 & Alleima 19C27 (formerly Sandvik).

Chemical composition (mixed analysis)

• C: 0,67%
• Cr: 13,5%
• Mn: 0,6%
• Mo: 0,5%
• Si: 0,4%

Heat treatment: Hardening Damax:

• Hardening: 1070°C (air)
• Tempering: 2 hours at 180°C
• Hardness: ~60 HRC

Etching recommendation

Hydrochloric acid (33%) or sulfuric acid (15-20%)
