BladeDamascus - Go Mai 440C

Stainless Go Mai with 440C core layer, do not grind the edge thinner than 1mm before hardening.

Chemical composition

• C: 1,05%
• Cr: 16,7%
• Si: 0,4%
• Mn: 0,4%
• Mo: 0,5%

Heat treatment / Go Mai 440C hardening

• Hardening: 1070°C (air)
• Tempering: 2 hours at 175°C
• Annealing: 850°C
• Hardness: ~60 HRC

Etching recommendation: The steel achieves a high-contrast finish when etched with 33% hydrochloric acid.
For a dark finish, it can then be dipped in ferric chloride, which blackens or darkens the steel. Alternatively, the surface can be polished to a high gloss for a shiny finish.
