The SheffCut is a carbon steel.

Properties

• Suitable steel for forging damascus (forge welding).
  Etches grey in damascus
• Very high sharpness
• High edge retention / wear resistance
• High hardness

Recommended applications

• European chef's knives
• Japanese chef's knives

Chemical composition

• C: 1,3%
• Cr: 0,2%
• Mn: 0,3%
• Si: 0,2%
• Nb: 0,1%

Heat treatment: Hardening SheffCut:

• Hardening: 820°C (oil)
• Tempering: 2 hours at 180°C
• Hardness: ~63 HRC
