Product description

The blade steel 440C / Böhler N695 / 1.4125 is a martensitic chromium steel. Mainly known as 440C steel, it has been used for knife making since the 1960s.

Our "1.4125 / Böhler N695 or 440C steel" heat treatment recommendation:
Hardening:

Oxidation protection required
Hardening temperature: 1030°C - 1065°C
Quenching medium: air / alternative oil
Cryo treatment: -40°C or colder
Tempering: 160°C - 200°C
Achievable hardness: 57 - 60 HRC

Annealing: 780°C - 840°C

Finish
Laser cut, rolled & annealed
Austrian or German production
