Böhler N680

The Böhler N680 is a corrosion-resistant, martensitic nitrogen-alloyed chromium steel.

Chemical composition

C: 0,54% | Cr: 17,3% | Mn: 0,40% | Mo: 1,1% | N: 0,20% | Si: 0,45% | V: 0,10%

Our "N680 steel" heat treatment recommendation:
Hardening:

• Oxidation protection required
• Hardening temperature: 1010°C - 1050°C
• Quenching medium: air / alternatively oil
• Cryogenic treatment: -50°C or colder
• Tempering: 150°C - 200°C
• Achievable hardness: 57 - 60 HRC

Stress relieving: hold at approx. 650°C for 2 hours, then slow furnace cooling.
Annealing: 800 to 850°C, furnace cooling
