Böhler M398 Microclean steel is a powder-metallurgical plastic mold steel with the highest wear resistance.

Recommended applications

• European chef’s knives
• Hunting knives
• Outdoor, survival & bushcraft knives

Chemical composition:

• C: 2,7%
• Si: 0,5%
• Mn: 0,5%
• Cr: 20%
• Mo: 1%
• V: 7,20%
• W: 0,7%

Heat treatment:

• Stress relieving: 650°C

Böhler M398 hardening:

• Hardening temperature: 1070°C - 1120°C
• Tempering: 200°C or 520°C
• Achievable hardness: 60 - 62 HRC
